I am dusting off a PowerPoint add-in to take advantage of dotNET regex capability. This add-in was originally written around 2006-2007. When the add-in loads, a tool appears on the command bar: "Custom Tools". I would like to change that to something more meaningful - let's say, "ABC Tools". I can find no place in the VBA code from which the .ppam file is built where the tool name is set. Can anyone tell me how that name is determined? The add-in is actually a .zip file with a different file ending. Inside the .zip file are several folders and XML files. The customUI.xml or customUI14.xml file is stored inside a folder called customUI. To change the displayed add-in name, you need to edit customUI/customUI.xml or customUI/customUI14.xml . If the file contains both, change both. This editing is much easier with a good editor program. Here is the most current RibbonX editor: Office RibbonX Editor v1.6.0.493 . I have not worked with customizing the Ribbon in PowerPoint, only Word.
