You’ll be feeling molto, molto bene after checking out these perfect pizza pies .
And if you’re still hungry, check out some delicious our favourite wood-fired pizza places around town .
It would be easy to over-complicate things, but put quite simply: Monsterella gets a lot of things just right. Those bases? Naturally risen for 48 hours, light as air, crispy, chewy, perfetto. That sauce? San Marzano tomatoes, ovviamente. A selection of pasta that will tempt even the most fanatic pizza fiend? Buon appetito!
46 Grantham Street, Wembley
When the lads from Hoodburger decide to open up a pizza shop, we definitely pay attention ! Instead of Hoodburger’s sun-drenched, technicolour vision of the west coast, Ronnie’s takes its inspiration more from the slice shops of New York, Chicago and Detroit, by way of WA.
Trays of fluffy, Sicilian-ish square slices are topped with tricolore stripes of vibrant sauces, juicy nuggets of pork sausage, vodka sauce or glistening cups of pepperoni. There’s a significant overlap of toppings with the thinner-crusted New York-ish slices, too – but you can also get these with classic cheese, meatlovers, or topped with a basil-laden pesto sauce dotted with ricotta. If you’re feeding the whole family (or perhaps you’re just hungry), whole round pizzas are also available to take away.
Happily, the classic toppings means that almost 50% of the menu is vegetarian – plus gluten-free bases manage to match the fluff-factor of the regular squares.
9/241 West Coast Highway, Scarborough
As if Mount Hawthorn’s bustling dining scene wasn’t already bursting at the seams, last year it welcomed a brand new player to the hood, Il Falco . Headed up by hospo guru Jye Glaskin (Little Creatures, Quarter Acre, Ruinbar, Pretty Good Pizza), Il Falco is fashioned on a pretty simple ethos: no fuss, relaxed vibes. Oh, and the unrivalled pursuit of perfect wood-fired pizzas, of course. We’ll let you be the judge if they have succeeded, though in our humble opinion it’s dang well up there!
214 Scarborough Beach Road, Mount Hawthorn
And perhaps it’s cheating, but it’s only fair to give Il Falco’s little sibling Voi Voi its fair share of attention! Opening in December of last year, the team transformed a sad TAB into a bustling pizzeria – capturing plenty of the same charm that has made Il Falco such a hit, but bringing it to Bassendean. And much like at Il Falco, the team’s no-nonsense, easy going approach has resulted in pies that balance crowd-pleasing familiarity with culinary adventure.
2 Parker Street, Bassendean.
After a sudden transformation this year, CBD wine bar Willi’s is now officially Willi’s Pizza Bar , specialising in the ooey-gooey, crunchy-edged deliciousness of Detroit-style pan pizza. Rarely seen in Perth, Detroit-style pizza is known for its rectangular shape and fluffy, thick base – which in this case, are topped by a mix of classic nostalgic Americana flavours and some more high-brow interpretations of the style, courtesy of Head Chef Logan Place. Think blistered tomatoes, “bloody good anchovies” and burrata, mushrooms, caramelised onions and goats’ feta, or felino salami with hot honey.
531 Wellington Street, Perth
Highgate’s Si Paradiso isn’t just a party paradise – it’s a pizza paradise, too. These are all-time pies: p illowy and fluffy, judiciously topped, every element is both high quality and considered. Plus, with the arrival of Paradiso Pizza Club, you can dive into the Si Paradiso courtyard every Wednesday from 5PM for $15 pizzas (all of ’em!), $12 negronis, $10 Aperol spritzes, $8 wines and $6 lagers. Midweek bargains and a boogie? We can hardly believe our luck!
446 Beaufort Street, Highgate
Love Si’s pizzas? Make your way to Mount Hawthorn for more of chef Paul Bentley’s pizza magic. The little sister to neighbouring wine bar Casa, Casa Pizzeria’s pies are pared-back perfection– with the prawn and green garlic butter option a must-have. Plus, they’ve transformed Casa’s signature ( very good ) focaccia into a fluffy, verdant take on garlic bread that we can’t stop dreaming about.
397/399 Oxford Street, Mount Hawthorn
Pizzeria Da Napoli
These pizzas will transport you straight to the streets of Naples! Established in 2023, Como favourite Da Napoli finds the balance between authenticity and tradition, and crowd-pleasing comfort – from their bruschetta pizza to their XXL Neapolitan style pies, to their gram-worthy gnocchi-filled pizza stars. 2025 also saw the pizzaiolos spread their wings, expanding to two new locations: one on Newcastle Street, Leederville, and another that sees them join forces with the Republic of Fremantle at 3 Pakenham Street.
5/262 Canning Highway, Como
We were truly devastated when Cott’s Canteen Pizza closed back in March – how would we cope without their stellar porchetta panini and woodfired pizzas? Well, the pizza gods answered our prayers, with their long-awaited, brand-spankin’-new Applecross location finally opening their doors! Designed by slick Adelaide architects Studio-Gram, the new location marks a new era for Canteen as they not only continue their pizza legacy but expand into new offerings – including, excitingly, breakfast seven days a week! Breakfast pizzetta? Hoo-boy!
32 Ardross Street, Applecross
Rossonero is well worth an adventure through the back lanes of Maylands. Hidden away in a former garage, this pizza spot serves up next level pies with friendly service to match. We can’t go past the Sticky Pig, but vegos won’t miss out with their vegan friendly cheese – and make sure you check out their Instagram for plenty of limited-run specials.
18 Lyric Lane, Maylands
450° Pizza in Rivervale, situated at the base of Aloft Perth is serving up a menu of classic pies, from traditional margheritas and restrained pizza bianca to capricciosa calzone or decadent brie and mushrooms. With gluten free bases and vegan cheese options available, dietaries are well-looked after – plus there’s a neat selection of salads if you’re feeling extra virtuous (or a rotating dessert pizza special, if you’re not)! “Pizza is a communal dish and is best shared amongst company, so we want as many people to enjoy a slice of 450° Pizza,” explained Head Chef Vincy Silveira. “We are thrilled to bring 450° Pizza to the area.”
27 Rowe Avenue, Rivervale
Pizza Mates are injecting some youthful energy into the local pizza landscape, all while still staying true to their traditional Italian roots. Owned by a couple of mates who met in London (Federico D’arienzo from Ferrara and Giuseppe Palombella from Trinitapoli) Pizza Mates serves up a mouthwatering array of options that have many claiming these guys to be the best in the Perth pizza biz. And who are we to argue? It’s hard to pick favourites with these guys, with a collection to suit all tastes, including a few vegan pizza options as well. When it comes to the right pizza choice, always go with your pizza mates.
Shop 5/207 Jones Street, Balcatta
Nestled in between Leederville and Mount Hawthorn, Pappagallo has become one of our favourite go-tos over the years. And while we love to dive into a bowl of pasta pretty much any night of the week, we really can’t go past Pappagallo’s pizzas. Crisp, light and toppings that are juuuuuust right – but with plenty of options to keep everyone happy. Plus, the option to add a burrata is something we can always, always get around.
250 Oxford Street, Leederville
Helmed by award-winning pizzaiolo Raffaele Brotzu, Delisio has been serving up some of the best pizzas in Perth (and the world!) since 2002. With classic Roman pizza available al taglio (rectangular slices perfect for a quick takeaway lunch) or traditional round pies in their inviting dining room, Delisio is that reliable, delicious friend you can always count on.
Shop 4, 94 Rokeby Road (Corner Churchill Avenue), Subiaco
As we’ve driven past Amore Mio , we’ve often thought to ourselves, “That looks like it could be a hidden gem…” It turns out, while it isn’t really all that hidden – it is an absolute gem, balancing between traditional and accessible, with plenty of family-friendly options. No frills and unpretentious, Amore Mio nails crowd-pleasing (yes, we’ve seen all your comments!) without skimping on quality.
279 Guildford Road, Maylands
A couple of years ago, Il Locale was a bit of a hidden local favourite – it’s now a certified slam dunk, with an ever growing list of locations stretching between Currambine and Busselton. They remain as good as day one, though – nay, even better! – with traditional wood fired pizzas and an anything but traditional attitude.
Various locations
If you’re further east, you needn’t miss out on the goodness. Basilico is serving up Midland’s best pies, with bases made with pre-fermented biga dough – light as air, crispy and complex in flavour. These ace bases are matched perfectly with simple toppings, like DOP prosciutto, pecorino and San Marzano tomatoes.
30A The Crescent, Midland
As if the people of North Perth didn’t have enough deliciousness on their doorstep! It seems almost unfair that they also get Zuccaro …This family-run trattoria and pizzeria has only been around since the start of 2020, and has come out the other side of the treacherous year with a neighbourhood of loyal devotees. To be fair, after trying the mortadella pizza, we’re pretty loyal, too.
Unit 1/448 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth
If there’s one thing we’ve learnt from our pizza explorations, it’s the benefits of restraint. And nowhere is that more evident than in Santini ’s pizza menu: just four options, you know that they’ll all have well and truly earned their place. Two rosso and two bianche, current offerings include a classic margherita style, a pork sausage with potato, dried chilli, lemon and parsley, a nduja and caramelised onion, or a cacio e pepe clam pie with parsley and pancetta. When those are your options, who needs anything else?
QT, 133 Murray Street, Perth
Eugene’s Pizzeria
We consider it a personal failure that we didn’t make it to Eugene’s Pizzeria sooner. This neighbourhood pizza spot is slinging pies six nights a week that are unpretentious yet high-quality. We’re talking 72-hour fermented dough and local ingredients – and what’s better about pizza than that?! (They also make one of Perth’s best gluten free bases, which is no mean feat!)
133 George Street, East Fremantl e
The undeniable draw of King Somm might be enough to make us move to Bayswater – that’s what big fans we are of this neighbourhood pizzeria and bar. Current pies include a cheeky eggplant parm-inspired number, mushrooms with truffled stracciatella, plus a garlic and chili marinated prawn pie with scamorza and a carrot and ginger purée. The 72-hour, “pasta riporto” dough and considered use of toppings is enough to please even the most discerning pizza snob.
13 King William Street, Bayswater
Ask the locals who live Solo Pizza in Como and just about all of ’em will tell you that Solo Pizza is the best in Perth. And we’re not here to argue, rather just let you get along and make your own mind up! Don’t let the photos on their menu fool you , if anything it’s just a clear sign they’re far more concerned with making delicious, authentic Italian pizzas than getting Insta-ready top-down photography done. Grab a bottle of wine and make sure you chat to the lovely people who work there. A Como institution that shows no sign of slowing down.
