Since this morning, after I woke up I restarted my pc and after being able to post. The screen would go black with the cursor infinitely loading, unable to get to the lock screen I assumed something was wrong in the bios, I check and its trying to boot off the Windows boot manager from my hard drive (My SSD is where my Windows install is, even if that hard drive used to be my c drive a few years back), I looked and it still detects my SSD I unplugged my hard drive to attempt to have the pc boot off the SSD and I get this fun little error Ive tried to boot it into automatic repair where I would have the same problem in the first image (black screen, this time no cursor) and from time to time [after i plugged my hard drive back in] I would get the error code 0xc000000e, with no option really able to be selected I decided that im probably cooked, and tried to use Rufus to reinstall windows 11, & I got a typical bsod that refused to restart for me (no screenshot but Im going to try just the normal installation method rn) If anyone can help me thatd be appreciated, but i do think the solution is clear as day kinda, new install of windows. Update: tried using the windows installation media now to boot to the windows setup I get… nothing! After setting it as the first priority, & the only boot priority on 2 different occasions in the bios I get nothing… I am now truly stumped… Locked Question. Anonymous 2025-02-06T09:43:43+00:00 Hi C4LxSTRYDERx Welcome to Microsoft Community. Based on your description, I understand that your computer is suddenly not working and you get error code 0xc000000e when you re-insert the hard disk, and even reinstalling Windows 11 through Rufus, I understand very well how you feel! It took me a while to deeply analyze the situation you shared with the images and I suspect it could be due to some of the following reasons. Error code “0xc000000e” usually indicates that the computer is unable to access the boot device, which may be due to a corrupted boot file or a misconfigured BIOS setup. since you mentioned unplugging the drive and trying to boot from the SSD, there may be a problem with the SSD or its connection. If the installation media (USB drive) is corrupt or misconfigured, you may not be able to boot into the Windows installation program. Sometimes the BIOS settings may be altered, causing boot problems. Ensure that the SSD is properly recognized and prioritized. I will give you some suggestions and troubleshooting options to hopefully solve your problem or find out what is causing it! However, this is the first time I've replied to this question, so please understand and provide more information in your reply (pictures would be great!). Thank you very much! Option 1: I think we may need to do some checking at the connection and hardware level first for now. Let's start by powering down the computer and checking all the connections to the SSD to make sure they are correct, not loose and secure. If possible, try using a different SATA port or cable. Option 2: I suspect that the problem may be caused by some incorrect settings in the BIOS, which is quite common. Sometimes settings in the BIOS can be changed to other settings automatically. So let's try to reboot the computer and enter the BIOS to reset the BIOS to default settings. After the reset is complete, set the SSD or external Windows installation media as the primary boot device and see if the problem persists. Option 3: If you have access to another computer, we can try connecting the SSD to it to see if it is recognized. This will help determine if the SSD is working properly. Option 4: We try to recreate a new external Windows installation media by using the tool from Microsoft's official website, to avoid the situation where the external Windows installation media is corrupted. If necessary, we can also replace the external storage device with a different one to avoid the possibility of hardware damage to the current external storage device. To create an external Windows installation media you can refer to: Create installation media for Windows - Microsoft Support After making it, we can first verify the availability of the media on other computers to make sure that the installation media you created can be recognized and used properly. Option 5: Assuming our newly created external Windows installation media is functional and accessible. At this point we can try to repair the system from the external Windows installation media. The steps to repair the system are as follows: (1) First, create the Windows installation media. (2) Connect the created installation media to the computer (3) Start the computer and set the Windows installation media as the first in the BIOS. (4) Save and enter, the computer will enter the Windows installation program (5) Click Next, and then click “Repair Computer” in the lower left corner. (6) On the “Choose an option page”, click “Troubleshooting”. (7) “Advanced Options” (8) “Start Repair” Option 6: Assuming you have access to the external Windows installation media, we can try to access the WinRE environment of the external Windows installation media for some ways to repair and backup data. Please note: Assuming that we can access the WinRE environment of the external Windows installation media, we should be able to at least back up the data to ensure that it will not be lost! The steps are: (1) First, create Windows installation media (2) Connect the installation media to the computer. (3) Start the computer and set the Windows installation media as the first place in the BIOS. (4) Save and enter, the computer will enter the Windows installation program (5) Click Next, and then click “Repair Computer” in the lower left corner. (6) On the “Choose an option page”, click “Troubleshooting”. (7) “Advanced Options” Let's first try to repair the system boot and system files from the command line. In “Advanced Options”, select “Command Prompt”. (1) Repair system files. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth SFC /Scannow Please note: The above command needs to be repeated 5-6 times to ensure the integrity of the scan! (2) Repair system boot. bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot bootrec /scanos bootrec /rebuildbcd Try to complete the data backup according to the following steps. Under Advanced Options, select Command Prompt. (1) Identify the external storage device diskpart (2) Look at the disk volume and find the drive letter of the external storage device (e.g., E: F:, etc.) list volume (3) Exit diskpart exit (4) Backup data Example: xcopy C:\path\to\your\data E:\backup\ /E /H /C /I Please note: C:\path\to\your\data is replaced by the path of the data in your computer, and E:\backup\ is replaced by the destination path of the external storage device (do not delete the last few parameters). In addition, there are other ways to backup files, you can refer to: Rescue Files when Windows Won't Start - Microsoft Community Option 7: After making sure the data backup is complete, we can try to reinstall the system via external Windows installation media. You can refer to: Reinstall Windows with the installation media - Microsoft Support (scroll down and find “Clean Installation of Windows using installation media”). After reinstalling the system, we should be able to access the system normally. Option 8: But if the problem persists, or if you still cannot access, even to the installer screen of the external Windows installation media after adjusting the boot priority. At this point we need to focus on the possibility of a hardware failure, such as an SSD or other component (e.g. RAM, motherboard), which may require professional help for further diagnosis. Assuming the problem persists, I suggest you also synchronize the issue by sending it to the motherboard brand's after-sales or technical support team, who are more familiar with their brand's products and may have had other users report similar issues. They may have already written a fix or a more targeted solution, and it is best to have the motherboard brand's after-sales or technical support staff assist in troubleshooting the problem remotely or offline. Ideally, it's best to have the motherboard brand's technicians perform a full diagnostic of the motherboard with specialized tools or instruments, especially the hard drive slots and settings in the BIOS. I sincerely hope that the above information and programs will help you! Please feel free to contact me (Photos related to the question would be great!). I look forward to hearing back from you.
